Wedding Save the Date Postcards

It's official.  Wedding Save the Date postcards are the largest single category of postcard by far.

Here are the the best Save the Date postcard designs that I could find.  Here's why I liked these: good type and layout, simple messages, photography that let the couple look like themselves, hint of fun, and originality.

Kudos: Kyle White

You can tell that the wonderful Kyle White at Kyle White Design is completely comfortable in the postcard media.

Here is a postcard design for an invitation and a series to promote Poplarville (Mississippi).

I love Kyle's bold woodblock-like elements, his typography, his weathered treatment and his versatility.

Xmas Cards

Since designers really can't run down to the Hallmark Store and pick up a packet of Christmas cards, the holidays have become an opportunity for them to show us what they've got.  It's neat to see what can be done with a postcard.

I get a kick from the Christmas postcards from slimaq designer Aleksandra Woldańska-Płocińska.

Sure, they're put together with wonderful graphics.  But it's great to see Aleksandra's personality come through in every card of the series.

It reminds me of how designers can create identity.  And how, when they've hit the mark, designers don't even need to include a logo.

Green Inkd

One of my favorite sites for finding consistently good postcard layouts is inkd.com .  They offer a marketplace for templates and customized layouts from dozens (maybe hundreds?) of artists.

Here is a postcard design  from Octavian Belintan who shows the power of a very basic color palette.  The layouts make me want to go out and start up a landscape design business!

KISS

I'm a big fan of simple.

Designer Nicole Tan's collection of postcards helps show how it's done.  Here are the front sides from her collection, based on signage she found around town (Nottingham).

Playful Post

Thought it would be good to start on a light note, with some postcard fronts.

Here, designer Ana Lucia Soto shows off her wit, and genius, with her take on some rather famous layouts. Brillante!

In the Beginning...

Here's the plan:  our mission is to scour the web and bring to you the best postcard design ideas as we find them.

We should probably have a page full of disclaimers.

Instead, we'll just say the three that come to mind: 1) beauty is in the eye of the beholder, 2) we don't own these images, so if you like the design you should contact its designer and 3) we have a dog in this fight -- we're sponsored by magnetbyMail a maker of postcard magnet mailers -- but we'll work hard to show all inspiring postcard designs we find, no matter who printed them.

If you'd like to suggest a great postcard design, please let us know.  We can't guarantee that we'll include it, but we'll definitely consider it.

And if you have other suggestions for us, we'd love to hear from you.

Please enjoy the site!
